“Seven Steps” is a cognitive-behavioral intervention aimed at prevention of HIV, STI, and viral hepatitis among active injecting drug users. The intervention includes the involvement of representatives of the key population, individual counseling and comprehensive case management for clients. This combination of methods promotes behavioral changes that lead to reductions in risk behavior, general health improvement and further promote a healthy lifestyle. The interven
tion is rooted in the client’s willingness to change and includes the following strategies: motivational counseling, development of self-efﬁ cacy and comprehensive case management.
Materials detailing the implementation of the intervention have been adapted to the Ukrainian context and translated.
